This piece, titled in reference to the monochromatic muralists of the 20th century and particularly influenced by the art of Mark Rothko, aims to convey through an acoustic experience the overwhelming sense of intimacy that the viewer experiences when faced with one of these massive canvases. In this composition, the darkened tone of red is incorporated into the compositional process as an exploration of sonic aggression: a red that translates into human anger but also symbolizes the explosive characteristics of chemical reactions ; a composition that presents itself as a sonic fire, where instrumental explosiveness triggers a chain reaction, alternating between uncontrolled frenzy, where the violence of the gestural primitivism used permeates through instrumental technique, and the inert remnants of that reaction. In this piece, the various parameters of musical composition are unified in the pursuit of this singular expressive pigment, much like the quest for exact pigmentation in one of these murals involved applying layer upon layer of the same color until achieving the precise hue.
