Arnau Gran i Romero is a Catalan composer currently based in Paris. Deeply interested in everything related to the technological dimension and fascinated by the various ways humans interact with it, his music often aligns, directly or indirectly, with the electronic world.
After completing a Musicology degree in electroacoustic composition at Paris 8 University and a Piano degree at ESMAR (Valencia), he is now pursuing a composition degree at CNSMDP under the mentorship of Gérard Pesson, along with a Musicology/Composition Master’s at Paris 8 University. His main areas of research, which significantly influence his compositional practices, include the gestural complexity in electroacoustic music—studying the challenges of gesture recognition and developing new interfaces to address interpretative issues—and the artistic perception of the dematerialization process, combating the obsolescence of this burgeoning repertoire.
His works have been performed by numerous ensembles such as Ensemble Intercontemporain, L'Itinéraire, Cairn, TM+, Sinkro, MG21, and KDM. He has received several awards and commissions from institutions including Artsom (Artsom Musical Composition Competition II), Petrichor Records (2022), and Ensemble Divertimento (Incontri Internazionali per Giovani Compositori ‘Franco Donatoni’ 2024-2025).
