"Le temps du subconscient" is a composition for the MG21 ensemble inspired by some of Salvador Dalí's surrealist paintings, such as "The Persistence of Memory." The main idea is that the perception of time in our subconscious is chaotic, overwhelmed by all the information we receive, and, above all, non-linear. This composition aims to emulate this disturbed perception of time by blending two totally different music styles: the first being a medieval religious song from the "Llibre Vermell de Montserrat" (Red Book of Montserrat), and the second being contemporary atonal music with the use of extended techniques and new sonorities. The goal is to create a musical phrase that progressively shifts from the first style to the second.
